Athens, GA based saxophonist Jason Ogg is active as a clinician and educator and performs frequently in the area in classical, jazz, and popular idioms. Jason has been featured as a soloist with the Central Wyoming College Band and Fremont Symphony Orchestra. He has performed at numerous national and regional conferences, including the North American Saxophone Alliance Biennial Conference (2010, 2008), North American Saxophone Alliance Region II Conference (2017, 2011, 2009, 2007) North American Saxophone Alliance Region VI Conference (2005), and the Navy Band Saxophone Symposium (2008).
After discovering his passion for teaching while serving as a graduate teaching assistant at the University of Georgia, Jason formed Ogg Music, LLC, in Lawrenceville, GA, specializing in providing artist-level saxophone instruction to local public school students. While in this capacity, his students were selected to numerous honor bands, including UGA JanFest and MidFest, and Georgia All-District and All-State bands. His students were also selected as winners of the Monroe Area Music Club competition and Georgia MTNA Senior Woodwind Performance competition. Many of his students matriculated to study saxophone at the University level.
Jason received the Bachelor of Music (2005- Saxophone Performance) from the University of Wyoming, and the Master of Music degree (2007- Saxophone Performance) from the University of Georgia, and has completed coursework for the Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Saxophone Performance from the University of Georgia. He has served on the faculty of Central Wyoming College and Georgia Gwinnett College. He lives in Athens with his wife and two sons. He has a dog and enjoys golf, cooking, hiking, outdoor pursuits, and Georgia Bulldogs football.
